Alfred Von Tirpitz

Historic portraits: Alfred Von Tirpitz. German admiral and chief builder of German Navy at the turn of the century. Born 1849 At Brandenburg; entered Prussian navy in 1865: became an officer in 1869; in the 1880´s he was the fleet´s outstanding torpedo specialist. 1917-18; member of the Reichstag (Parliment). He persuaded Paul Von Hindenburg to accept nominaton as candidate for preidency in 1925. Tripitz died near Munich in 1930., id:23279
