The plane is capable of exceeding the speed of sound in level flight over a considerable range of attitudes and its 60 degree sweptback delta wings form the most advanced shape yet to fly on a British aircraft. Tjhe engine is a Rolls-Royce Avon turbojet and Fairey Powered Flying Controls are fitted.
