Alan James Brown was appointed as an British Ambassador to Togo and to Dahomey (non – resident) from April 1973. He was educated from Magdalene College, Cambridge. He served in the war and entered the Commonwealth Relations Office in 1948. He also served in Calcutta, Karachi, Dacca and Kuala Lumpur. As a Deputy High Commissioner he also served in Cyprus (1964). He was married with three children.
