Alexie A. Surkov, leading Soviet poet, born in Srednevo, Yaroslavl Region, Oct. 1899; educated Institute of Red Professors, Moscow; his books include "Flame Beats in the Small Stove" and "Bullet is Frightened by Brave Man": he is a Deputy to the USSR Supreme Soviet, and has been President of the USSR-Great Britain Society sice 1958.
