British businessman, Sir Frank Kearton, 1967. Frank Kearton was a British life peer in the House of Lords. He was also a scientist and industrialist and former Chancellor of the University of Bath. He was usually known by his middle name of Frank, and was Frank Kearton OBE between 1945 and 1966, and Sir Frank Kearton OBE between 1966 and his elevation to the peerage in 1970. He was born on 17 February 1911 and died on 2 July 1992. He was the Chairman of Courtaulds Ltd., the giant chemical firm, since November 1964 (and Deputy Chairman 1961-1964); he has been a part-time member of the U.K. Atomic Energy Authority since 1955; and Chairman of the Electricity Supply Research Council since 1960. He was educated at Hanley High School, and St. John's College, Oxford; he joined the Imperial Chemical Company in 1933; and from 1940-1945 worked in the U.K. and U.S.A. Atomic Energy Project. He joined Courtaulds Ltd. in 1946; and became a Director in 1952. He got married, with two sons and two daughters.
