British Trade Union leader, Clive Jenkins. 1973 David Clive Jenkins was a British trade union leader. "Organising the middle classes", his stated recreation in Who's Who, sums up both his sense of humour and his achievements in the British trade union movement. He was the General Secretary of the Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial Staffs, since 1970; he is one of the most important and influential trade union leaders in Britain. He worked in the steel industry, 1940-1945; joined the union, 1945; Transport and Industrial Officer, 1949; author and occasional journalist. He was born on 2 May, 1926 and died on 22 September, 1999.
