Dr Christian Cabrol, Maurice Mercadier and Gerard Guiraudon, first surgeons to transplant a human heart. 1968 Christian Cabrol, born16 September 1925in Chézy-sur-Marne (Aisne), is a surgeon heart and politician French. He is known to have performed the first heart transplant in Europe the 27 April 1968At the Hospital de la Pitie in Paris, with his assistant then Iradj Gandjbakhch. It is also the source of the first heart-lung transplant in 1982, and the first implantation of artificial heart in France in 1986. His ex-wife, Annick Cabrol is anesthesiologist -réanimateur and also participated as such to the first heart transplant. Since 1998, he is married to actress Bérangère Dautun 1 (Paul Armand) Born in Rignac (France) on January 21, 1917. Elected Foreign Correspondent November 26, 1988 (third section). Foreign Honorary Member 16 May 1998. Professor at the University of Paris. Speciality:. Digestive Surgery Died April 9, 2002. He was proclaimed Doctor of Medicine from the University of Paris in 1947. In 1949, he was Head of Therapeutic Clinical Surgery and Surgeon became Assistant of Hospitals of Paris the following year. In 1955, he passed Surgeon of the Hospitals of Paris and in 1958 he will be Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine. From 1958 to 1982 he worked as Head of Paris Hospitals Department. He was honorary doctorate from the University of Porto. He was a member of the National Academy of Medicine, the Academy of Surgery, Association French Surgery, of the French Society of Gastroenterology, the International Society of Surgery (President 1982-1983), the American Surgical Association, the American College of Surgeons, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract , of the New York Academy of Medicine, Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, the Royal Society, the Royal College of Edinburgh, of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, of the Society of Surgery of South Africa, of the Argentine Academy of Surgery, College of Surgeons of Brazil, the Society for Surgery of Chile, of the Egyptian Society for Surgery of the Italian Society of Surgery, Companies Gastroenterology Argentina, Belgium, Chile and Switzerland, of the Society of Italian Research, the Society of Medical Sciences of Portugal and the Portuguese Society for Surgery (Member founder). He was co-editor of the World Journal of Surgery and a member of the Editorial five other journals Committee. He was an Officer of the Legion of Honour and Officer of the National Order of Merit.
