Ragnar Hoppe. Knut Ragnar Johan Hoppe, born 19 May 1885 in Malmö, died in 1967, was a Swedish art historian, museum mime and publisher. He was the nephew of the artist Bruno Hoppe. Hoppe became a philosophy licentiate at Lund University in 1916, the laboratory at the National Museum in 1917 and subsequently a PhD in Lund in 1933. [3] He was 1st intendent at the National Museum 1922-1950 and chairman of the Association for Graphic Art 1958-1963. Hoppe was an art critic in Svenska Dagbladet 1918-1920 and in the Social Democrat (Morning Newspaper) 1923-1927 and 1935-1947 as well as a connoisseur of French 19th century art.
