Johan Jonatan "Jussi" Bjorling was a Swedish tenor. One of the leading operatic singers of the 20th century, Bjorling appeared for many years at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City and less frequently at the major European opera houses, including the Royal Opera House in London and La Scala in Milan. The tenor was awarded the 1959 Grammy Award for Best Classical Performance - Vocal Soloist (With Or Without Orchestra) for his recording Bjorling in Opera. He was born on 5 February 1911 and died on 9 September 1960. Anna-Lisa Bjorling was a Swedish opera singer and actress. She was married to tenor, Jussi Bjorling, from 1935 until his death in 1960. Anna-Lisa was a soprano who had studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. She made successful comeback at the Royal Swedish Opera in 1948, where she performed various roles until the late 1960s.She was born on March 15, 1910 and died on November 24, 2006.
