Buydens was in her early teens when her family fled fascism[citation needed] and emigrated to Belgium, where she became a citizen. Buydens continued her education there and in Switzerland before moving to Paris, where her fluent knowledge of several languages kept her busy subtitling films. Personal life[edit] Buydens married actor Kirk Douglas on May 29, 1954. She has two children with him - Peter Douglas (born on November 23, 1955, in Los Angeles, California), and Eric Douglas (born on June 21, 1958 - died on July 6, 2004, at age 46).[3] Buydens converted to Judaism when she renewed her wedding vows with Douglas.[4] Family tree[edit]
