Elected as leader of the Public Services, Transport and Traffic Union in September 1982; she replaced Heinz Kluncker, who resigned for health reasons. Born in 1942, she studied German literature; gained 326 votes, as opposed to 304, which her opponent Siegfried Merten received. - 1982
