Jean-Baptiste Salis is a French aviator, born in Montmorin (Puy-de-Dôme) September 19, 1896, and died in Cerny (Essonne) December 10, 1967. On the first mechanic, he became a military pilot during the First World War, and instructor and test pilot. In 1937 he began to collect and restore vintage aircraft. He moved to Cerny (Essonne) and creates the aerodrome of La Ferte-Alais. It is there that founded the association will become the Amicale Jean Baptiste Salis-. After his death, his son Jean and his daughter Irene took up the torch. A monument to him was erected near Égliseneuve-près-Billom along the provincial road 997.
