Victor Sjöström Victor David Sjöström, born September 20, 1879 in Högerud in Silbodal parish in Värmland, died January 3, 1960 in Hedvig Eleonora parish in Stockholm, was a Swedish actor, director and scriptwriter. He came with Mauritz Stiller to become the leading silent film of the Swedish silent film. Among his many famous films are Selma Lagerlöf film formations Ingmarssönerna (1919) and Körkarlen (1921). Sjöström worked as director in Hollywood in 1923-1930, at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios, after which the commitments mainly became as actors.
