If in Hamburg it´s highly recommended to visit the Museum für kunst und gewerbe which is located at Steintorplatz, near the central train station. Besides temporary exhibitions of a rich variety the museum holds impressive collections of art and crafts from all over the world. For particular interest for all us photo fans is the remarkable photographic collection, consisting of 75.000 items and thus being the most significant in the German speaking world. The collection ranges in scope from portrait, fashion and object photography all the way to photojournalism and fine art photography, as well as documenting the stylistic and technical development of the medium from the daguerreotype process all the way to digital photography.
