On May 15, 1953, a group of mountaineers were seen making preparations for their upcoming Everest expedition. They had set their sights on the summit of the world's highest peak, which stands at a towering 29,002 feet. The climbers had planned to reach Camp 70 at 27,559 feet, followed by Camp 20, Camp 6 at 25,850 feet, and Camp 4. On the left, they could see the peak of Lhotse, standing at 27,840 feet.
