On May 15, 1953, a group of mountaineers were seen making preparations for their upcoming Everest expedition. They had set their sights on the summit of the world's highest peak, which stands at a towering 29,002 feet. The climbers had planned to reach Camp 70 at 27,559 feet, followed by Camp 20, Camp 6 at 25,850 feet, and Camp 4. On the left, they could see the peak of Lhotse, standing at 27,840 feet. On August 14, 1997, they were ready to begin their ascent of Everest.
