Signing of the capitulation by Japan on the "Missouri" - Vintage Photograph

On September 2, 1945, at nine o'clock, Japan signed the surrender on board the youngest American battleship, the Missouri. In At that moment the Chief of the Japanese General Staff, General Umezu, signs. General MacArthur (on microphone) will be the next to sign for the United States. In the past, the photos were often parts of a series or were mass-produced by the archives. Nowadays, their number is decimated - many were destroyed by time, use, or natural disasters. Few were preserved and are nowadays carefully stored in our archives.
