Earl of Harewood - Vintage Photograph

King's Nephew Weds Pianist, The Earl of Harewood, 26, nephew of King George VI and 11th in line of succession to the British throne, was married to Vienna-born concert pianist Marion Stein, 23, at St Mark's Church, North Audley Street, London. This afternoon Sept 19. The King and Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Elizabeth attended the ceremony with Princess Margaret and other members of the Royal Family. About 500 guests were at the reception held after the wedding at St Jame's Palace, London. Ten streets were closed for hours and crowds, many of whom had waited all night, saw the Earl leave the church with his bride. The pair will honeymoon in Italy and France. In the past, the photos were often parts of a series or were mass-produced by the archives. Nowadays, their number is decimated - many were destroyed by time, use, or natural disasters. Few were preserved and are nowadays carefully stored in our archives.
