In spite of the untold number of technical improvements performed on the Beetle over the years, its external appearance has hardly altered at all over four decades, as can be seen in the photograph. Up to now 19 million have been produced. Alongside, the VW Golf, currently the most successful vehicle from Volkswagen AG which also promises a rapid development similar to that of the Beetle in the post war years. Few were preserved and are nowadays carefully stored in our archives.
