Aircraft: Fokker Triplane - Vintage Photograph

A planned fly-past by two WW1 airplanes went badly wrong at Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton. One of the planes, a sopwith PUP replica refused to start, and was forced to remain on the ground. Meanwhile a Fokker Triplane replica (as flown by the 'Red Baron' von Richthoffen) performed faultlessly overhead, much to the annoyance of the PUP's pilot, former WW2 spitfire pilot Dizzie Addicott. the Triplane was piloted by Robin Bowes, who owns it. The sopwith is owned by the Fleet Air Arm Museum, who staged the fly-past to mark the opening of a new exhibition, "The Royal Naval Air Service in the World War one". Few were preserved and are nowadays carefully stored in our archives.
