On Saturday, March 4th, 1963, Cambridge University badminton team won the Inter-University badminton match against Oxford University at the Old Gaol Courts in Abingdon. Cambridge had the edge in most of the games and ran out winners by ten games to five. The Cambridge captain, T. W. Mairyne (Methodist College, Belfast, and St. Catharine's), beat Oxford captain A. H. Pearmain (City of London and Keble) in the singles match 15-3, 15-7.
