On Saturday, 9th September 1985, employees and their families of Nuffield Press, a printing company based in Cowley, Oxfordshire, gathered to celebrate the diamond jubilee of the company. 91-year-old Mr. Harry Waddle, who had worked in the machine room of Nuffield Press for 17 years before his retirement in 1960, proudly showed Managing Director Trevor Jones a letter he received from Lord Nuffield, the company's founder. Chef Pete Davies served an ox roast which was enjoyed by all in attendance, including 11-year-old Kevin Bennett, of Brasenose Driftway, Cowley, who is pictured receiving a slice of the roast. In the past, the photos were often parts of a series or were mass-produced by the archives. Nowadays, their number is decimated - many were destroyed by time, use, or natural disasters. Few were preserved and are nowadays carefully stored in our archives.
