In 1998, the Mercedes-Benz motor sport programme will again rest on three pillars: the Formula 1 World Championship, the international FIA-GT Championship and the CART Championship Series. Participation in the three most prominent disciplines of international motor sport underlines Mercedes-Benz's willingness to prove the company's competitiveness and technological competence. In the 45 races of all three series last year, Mercedes scored 18 victories and won three championship titles. CART: Eight cars powered by Mercedes In 1997, Mercedes-Benz had won the constructors' title even before the end of the season - cars with Mercedes engines won nine - i.e. more than half - out of 17 races. In this year's season of the US racing series, in which the cars' designation was changed from IndyCars to Champ Cars, five teams and eight drivers will be supplied with a completely re-developed Mercedes engine with the designation IC 108 E. This acronym relates to a turbo-engine with an output of more than 800 hp and a displacement of 2.65 litres; it was displayed at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

Since the photos are old press photographs they may have scratches, lines, or other wears of time, which just underlines the authenticity and age of the photos. In the past, the photos were often parts of a series or were mass-produced by the archives. Nowadays, their number is decimated - many were destroyed by time, use, or natural disasters. Few were preserved and are nowadays carefully stored in our archives.

Press photos have been available to the public for just a few years, and similar to baseball cards, they have attracted investors and collectors. The value of original Press Photos prints has been steadily increasing in value and is expected to to continue doing so.
