Prince George (Georgii Vladimirovich) Galitzine - Vintage Photograph

PRINCE GEORGE GALITZINE (1916-1992) Prince George (Georgii Vladimirovich) Galitzine was born in Imperial Russia (Tiflis, Georgia; now Tbilisi) in 1916 but spent the majority of his life living and working in England. His father Prince Vladimir Emanuelovich Galitzine (1884-1954)was an officer in the Cavalier-Guards and his mother was Princess Ekaterina Georgievna Galitzine (nee Countess Carlow, 1891-1940). He was a descendant of Grand Duchess Ekaterina Mikhailovna and Duke Georg August of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. In 1919 aged 3 years old Prince George escaped with his family from revolutionary Russia and settled in England. Educated at Lancing College and St Pauls School, George got a scholarship to Oxford and read History at Brasenose College.

Since the photos are old press photographs they may have scratches, lines, or other wears of time, which just underlines the authenticity and age of the photos. In the past, the photos were often parts of a series or were mass-produced by the archives. Nowadays, their number is decimated - many were destroyed by time, use, or natural disasters. Few were preserved and are nowadays carefully stored in our archives.
