Pupils at the Christ Church Cathedral School in Oxford are preparing for their upcoming opera production of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, an opera based on the work of Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The production, which will take place in the Newman Rooms on February 17, 18 and 19, will incorporate an extraordinary range of instruments, such as wine glasses, bird warblers and kazoos, alongside conventional instruments. All 92 pupils at the school are taking part in the production. In the past, the photos were often parts of a series or were mass-produced by the archives. Nowadays, their number is decimated - many were destroyed by time, use, or natural disasters. Few were preserved and are nowadays carefully stored in our archives.
