Sonja Henie - Vintage Photograph

Sonja Henie, born April 8, 1912 in Kristiania (now Oslo), died October 12, 1969 (in leukemia aboard an ambulance flight en route to Oslo), was a Norwegian-American figure skater and actor. She was the world's best female figure skater from the mid-1920s to the mid-1930s, with a total of 3 Olympic golds, 10 World Championships gold and 6 European Championships gold. Sonja Henie, född 8 april 1912 i Kristiania (nuvarande Oslo), död 12 oktober 1969 (i leukemi ombord på ett ambulansflyg på väg till Oslo), var en norsk-amerikansk konståkare och skådespelare. Hon var världens bästa kvinnliga konståkare från mitten av 1920- till mitten av 1930-talet, med sammanlagt 3 OS-guld, 10 VM-guld och 6 EM-guld.

In the past, the photos were often parts of a series or were mass-produced by the archives. Nowadays, their number is decimated - many were destroyed by time, use, or natural disasters. Few were preserved and are nowadays carefully stored in our archives.
