Adolfo Suárez Adolfo Suárez González, born September 25, 1932 in Cebreros, Ávila, died March 23, 2014 in Madrid, was a Spanish politician, the country's prime minister from 1976 to 1981. He was named prime minister by newly-appointed King Juan Carlos in 1976 and, despite his genuine background within the ruling Falangist Party, was persistent in embarking on democratic reforms that swiftly swept away the authoritarian Franco regime that year. In 1981 he volunteered as prime minister and party leader (for the UCD bourgeois middle party) and was succeeded by Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo. Adolfo Suárez Adolfo Suárez González, född 25 september 1932 i Cebreros, Ávila, död 23 mars 2014 i Madrid, var en spansk politiker, landets premiärminister 1976-1981. Han utsågs till premiärminister av den nytillträdde kung Juan Carlos 1976 och var, trots sin genuina bakgrund inom det styrande Falangistpartiet, ihärdig i att samma år inleda demokratiska reformer som snabbt sopade undan den auktoritära Francoregimen. År 1981 avgick han frivilligt som premiärminister och partiledare (för det borgerliga mittenpartiet UCD) och efterträddes av Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo.

Since the photos are old press photographs they may have scratches, lines, or other wears of time, which just underlines the authenticity and age of the photos. In the past, the photos were often parts of a series or were mass-produced by the archives. Nowadays, their number is decimated - many were destroyed by time, use, or natural disasters. Few were preserved and are nowadays carefully stored in our archives.
