The twin-seater Moon-raker canoe in this photograph is the latest acquisition to the "canoe fleet" belonging to the canoe section of 3 Squadron, 14th Signals Regiment, of Weald, Southampton. The canoe, made of fibre-glass, arrived as a complete kit and had to be assembled by members of the canoe section. In the photograph are L.-Cpl. H. M. Leigh, the NCO in charge of the section (left), and Cpl. D. Tinker. Although the Squadron has several canoes, including one identical to this, the one in the picture is of special interest because it has been presented to the unit through the Nuffield Trust for the Welfare of the Unit.
