The larger payload, which is obvious even to laypersons, influences the maximum speed, acceleration and consumption. However, as the VW test department has determined, the losses are comparatively small, especially in view of the significantly increased transport performance. With a Golf LS nit 600 ccn / 75 hp engine, the maximum speed when loaded with a driver (together 855 kg) is 162 km / h; for four people with luggage (total 1250 kg) it drops by approx. 3 to 159 km / h. The impact on acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h is clearer: only with the driver is it 12.3 seconds - with a full load it increases by 5 to 17.3 seconds. The additional weight affects fuel consumption differently: If the journey is fairly constant and even, for example on the freeway, up to 90 percent of the maximum speed, the additional consumption is only 0.3 liters, 100 km, at maximum speed it increases to 0.6 liters / 100 km. However, if driving predominantly in the mountains or often accelerating, in the worst case this can result in additional consumption of up to 2 liters / 100 km.

Few were preserved and are nowadays carefully stored in our archives.
